Galena Artists Guild Spring Show
The Galena Artists Guild Spring Show begins March 19 and runs through May 16 and will feature a Tapestry Exhibit. The Galena (IL) Artists Guild has a gallery at 324 Spring St. where members' works may be viewed or purchased. The gallery is open 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Thursday- Monday. Work on the Tapestry Exhibit involved member artists creating parts of a giant tapestry that will be shown for the first time. This is the culmination of individuals' creative expression joined to represent the community's support for the arts.
First Friday is an event held the first Friday of each month by the Galena Artists Guild which show cases the art work of specific artists in the group. First Friday events are held at the Galena Elk's Club at 123 N. Main Street from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. All First Friday events are free and open to the public. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres are provided and a cash bar will be available.
The Galena Artists Guild Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that promotes arts and artists in Galena and surrounding areas. The Guild features members' art, supports many local arts projects, and gives annual scholarships to students pursuing art studies and continuing education grants to working artists. The Guild was formed almost four decades ago.
Innkeepers Mike and Anita Reese, from the Queen Anne Guest House, appreciate art and showcase works of art from various artists. Guests at the Queen Anne Guest House will see art work from artists such as Janet Treby, Peter Nixon, Csaba Markus, Timothy Botts, Julie Peachey, Carol Olszowka and Richard B. Pearce. Innkeepers Mike and Anita Reese are proud art collectors of Peter Nixon.
