This show was inspired by the little-known fact that Twain sang tenor and played banjo, guitar and piano, and love to show off at parties. Jim Post created an exceptional musical experience about Twain's childhood. Post's unique interpretaion of Twain's humor takes you from dialogue to song, from stories to historical fact, from laughter to nostalgia. Post has written very effective, melodic folk songs that punctuate the stories, truly graspings Twain's greatness.
The show has traveled all the way to the English Speaking Theatre in Vienna, Austria, and in 1997 Mark Twain and the Laughing River was awarded the American Library Association Award for Notable Recordings, and a Parents' Choice Award, making it recommended listening by every library in America.
In 1967, Jim's song "Reach Out of the Darkness" became a symbol of the peace movement and was featured in a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame exhibit. In the past 30 years, Post has recorded more than 20 CDs, written and performed two acclaimed one man shows; written several children's book and helped to create and promote a successful, musical, phoneme-based reading program for children with developmental difficulties.

"His songs and monologues, whether serious or witty, fell as natural on the ear as everyday conversation. Post's songs engagingly illuminate the wry humor for which Twain was famous. Rousing....an ideal family show." -----Chicago Sun Times
